Rising high above Rabat and Salé in the gleaming Mohammed VI Tower, Waldorf Astoria Rabat Salé made quite the entrance when it opened its doors last month. Set within Morocco’s tallest building, this 55-room hotel brings Waldorf Astoria polish to the capital, pairing grand views, serious design credentials and Moroccan soul in a way that is surprisingly relaxed for somewhere quite this stylish.
The interiors take inspiration from the stars, with planetarium-style details, patterned ceilings and luminous touches woven throughout. The effect is elegant, atmospheric and effortlessly glamorous.
Sun-warmed marbles, intricate Moroccan motifs and sweeping windows give the hotel a sense of place, while the mood remains serene and wonderfully understated.
The accommodation here feels more like private residences than standard city hotel bedrooms, with options ranging from deluxe rooms to expansive three-bedroom suites. Each comes with dedicated Personal Concierge service, which means the finer details can be seamlessly handled by someone else while guests get on with the important business of admiring the view.
Art is another major part of the story. The hotel houses nearly 7,000 works, making it home to one of North Africa’s largest private art collections. Paintings, sculptures and artefacts appear at every turn, ensuring that even the walk to dinner becomes something of a gallery tour.
Dining is equally impressive. Peacock Alley, the Waldorf Astoria signature social hub, sits beneath a planetarium-inspired clock and is the place for afternoon tea, coffee or cocktails with a little extra ceremony. Aldabaran, led by the iconic Alain Ducasse, brings destination dining to Rabat, while Brasserie Magnolia offers Mediterranean flavours by Lahcen Hafid. Still to come are The Sapphire Room, a pan-Asian bar designed around cocktails, music and shareable plates, and Après, the hotel’s artisanal coffee shop.
The spa keeps things rooted in Morocco, with traditional hammam rituals, six treatment rooms, an Iyashi dome, heated quartz sand table, ice room, sauna, indoor pool and ocean-facing infinity pool.
With almost 1,300 square metres of event space and Rabat’s UNESCO-listed landmarks close by, Waldorf Astoria Rabat-Salé is designed to impress while retaining an unmistakable sense of ease.
